Education
In addition to Paddyfield’s work in developing school bookclubs and library supply programmes, Paddyfield was the initiator and organizer of the student sessions at the Man Hong Kong International Literary Festival which brought such acclaimed children’s authors as Linda Sue Park, Grace Lin, Anne Fine and Margaret Mahy to Hong Kong while also allowing Hong Kong students unparalleled opportunities to see and hear such renowned writers as Amy Tan and Seamus Heaney.
Other activities by Paddyfield and its principals included:
- With the Harvard Club of Hong Kong, establishing the Harvard Book Prize for Hong Kong secondary school students
- With the Consulates of Spain and Mexico in Hong Kong, establishing the Cervantes School Book Prize for excellence in Spanish studies
- Coordinated relationships between academics from Harvard University and Hong Kong universities to assist in the design and establishment of General Education programmes
- Running the alumni interview programme in Hong Kong for a leading US university
